NOTICE FOR CONSTITUTIONAL AMENDMENT

NOTICE FOR CONSTITUTIONAL AMENDMENT

Dear Members of INDSPN,

At the last Interim EC meeting of the INDSPN at Chennai, Dr Suresh Sankhlainitiated  a discussion of the tenure of the President and Vice-President. After an intense discussion it   was proposed to reduce the tenure of both posts to a period of 2 years. The EC passed a resolution to this effect. However this being a major change, a Constitutional Amendment is required and hence this notice.

Kindly go through the resolution and send us your feedback at indspn.office@gmail.com

The final version will be put up for the General body to vote on at the next Annual meeting at Mumbai in March 2017.

The Problem:

The tenure of the President and Vice-President is 3 years now. This is probably one of the longest among various societies. Hence this limits the number of people who can become President.

The Solution and justification for it:

Many members felt that this should be shortened to 2 years. This would improve opportunities for others to become President and Vice-President earlier. Hence the notice for the Amendment.

Existing law:

ARTICLE 4

SECTION 1. PRESIDENT:
Sub Section 1 A:General
There will be no election or contest for the post of the President.
The Vice President will automatically take over as the President at the conclusion of the latter’s term.
The term of the President will be 3 (THREE) years. There will no extension of the term of office.

SECTION 2. VICE - PRESIDENT:
Sub Section 2 A: General:
The Vice President shall be elected from among the life members of The Society who are in good standing, regular in attendance and active in IndSPN.
The candidate must be proposed and seconded by two life members of The Society.
A person who wishes to contest for the post of the Vice President should have served on the Executive Committee for at least one term in any capacity.
The term of office will be 3 (THREE) years. There will be no extension of the term of office since the Vice President will take over as the President.
At the end of the term the Vice President will automatically become the President of The Society
